Lack of results: I understand it may take multiple treatments to obtain optimal results for hair reduction and IPL. Although these devices are effective in most cases, no guarantees can be made. I understand I may not experience complete clearance, and that it usually takes multiple treatments.
Pain: You may experience slight burning, scratchiness, tingling or irritation of the skin. These sensations are usually temporary and typically subside within a few hours after treatment. A sudden reappearance of redness or pain is a sign of infection.
Picking: Avoid picking at the skin during the healing period, as this can lead to hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation.
Pigment/Color Change/Sun Exposure: After an IPL skincare treatment, the treated area may temporarily darken as the pigment comes to the surface. This darkening typically lasts for 5-7 days before the pigment naturally sloughs off or flakes away, similar to a light peel. In some cases, this process can take longer, depending on your skin type. Although these changes are generally temporary, there is a rare chance they could become permanent. The risk of pigment changes increases if you do not follow post-treatment instructions, especially if the treated area is exposed to the sun. To minimize this risk, avoid direct sun exposure for at least two weeks after the treatment. Additionally, it is essential to use a daily SPF facial moisturizer, which your esthetician can recommend.
Redness/Swelling/Bruising/Scabbing: Short term redness or swelling of the treated area is common but could be prolonged.
