Radio Frequency Microneedling
What’s Radio Frequency Microneedling?
About the procedure: The treatment time will vary, depending on the area(s) being treated. We create controlled wounds to the outermost layer of the skin which stimulates collagen and elastin. Thus, inducing new healthy tissue surrounding the area. It uses tiny needles and radiofrequency waves to rejuvenate facial skin. Micro needling combined with RF (radiofrequency energy) can help lift, tighten, and minimize the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles, as well as other skin imperfections. Multiple treatments are recommended for optimal results. On average patients who do this treatment can expect results to last 12 months to 24 months after receiving 3 treatments 30 days apart.
What’s the difference between Traditional Microneedling and Radio Frequency Microneedling?
Traditional Microneedling:
Involves the use of fine needles to create tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the body's natural healing process, promoting collagen and elastin production, which leads to smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin. Traditional microneedling is effective for treating a variety of skin concerns such as fine lines, acne scars, and overall skin texture.
Radio Frequency (RF) Microneedling:
Combines traditional microneedling with the added benefit of radiofrequency energy. As the needles penetrate the skin, they deliver RF energy deep into the dermis. This added heat further stimulates collagen and elastin production, enhances skin tightening, and can be more effective for deeper skin issues like wrinkles, skin laxity, and more significant textural concerns. The RF energy makes the treatment more intense and generally more effective, especially for those looking to achieve more dramatic results.
In summary, while both treatments stimulate collagen production, RF microneedling goes a step further by delivering heat energy to the deeper layers of the skin, making it a more advanced option for skin rejuvenation.

Pain: You may experience slight burning, scratchiness, tingling or irritation of the skin. These sensations are usually temporary and typically subside within a few hours after treatment.
Picking: Avoid picking at the skin during the healing period, as this can lead to hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation.
Pigment/Color Change/Sun Exposure: Not following post-treatment instructions increases the risk of these pigment changes, particularly if the treated area is exposed to the sun. To minimize this risk, you must avoid direct sun exposure/heat for two weeks after the treatment. Additionally, it is essential to wear a daily SPF facial moisturizer, which your esthetician can recommend.
Redness/Swelling/Bruising/Scabbing: After the procedure, your skin may be red, with mild swelling and/or bruising, and it might feel tight and sensitive to the touch. This is a normal part of the healing process. If you experience persistent redness or swelling, please contact our office. Itching is also normal as the skin begins to peel. To aid in healing and recovery, we recommend using Lux MD Medical Repair Cream, which can be purchased from Foreverbyash at the time of service for $40.
